12. If you have more than 1 computer in the house or apartment
Make sure you have a wireless router and some wireless peripherals (wifi network card) irregardless if you have a broadband connection or not.

Also, make sure your routers are always using encryption. This also let's others who walk in with wireless laptops connect to your network or share files. It makes it that much more simpler.
