HELP!! Hood lock diagram

This is a great resource site. Keep up the good job.

My hood lock on 1992 Toyota Celica GT Coupe won't open. The release lever (inside the car) has a little tension on it but the lock is not being engaged. I would like to figure out a way to open the lock without paying somebody $$$. Do you have a diagram or pictures on how the hood lock works? Also, any tips you can provide will be great?

I'll try to find a diagram. For the most part, I have the electrical diagrams but I'm not sure if that will hold anything about the hood mechanism. If you ever come across a scanned version of the BGB (Big Green Book aka Factory Repair Manual) at a site...send me a link. No one has done this...I'm thinking of doing it.

but this is only for 2000 Celica and up.

Doesn't do anything for the older generation Celica.

you may need to look at this pic and see if your latch is still attached to the wire. otherwise...you may have to pull the wire/latch with a plier.
